Diving points Cap of Creus Natural Park

The Cap de Creus Natural Park is the Costa Brava in its purest state. A still virgin coastline, with hidden coves and steep cliffs that plunge into the sea. Its exceptionally transparent waters allow us to discover both colored walls of gorgonians and areas of coral, as well as a representation of impressive Mediterranean fauna, highlighting groupers, lobsters, congers and pelagic species.

This dive area descends quite steeply and only has a small platform in the east area. The tip of Cape Falconera continues with a reef in which there are abundant and thick sea fans up to 45 meters. The stone is full of holes with conger eels, scorpions, tailors and grasshoppers. In the sandy bottoms that surround the reef, you can see small flatfish and hopefully burbot in late spring. In the cove there is a platform that reaches 18 meters full of stones and a few boulders detached from the coast where it is easy to observe octopus. At the end of this platform is a cliff that plunges from 18 to 36 meters.

Less experienced divers can dive 18 meters along the coast where among the rocks you will find octopus, scorpions, crabs and cuttlefish. On the west side wall, you can discover gaps with the Hands of Death, sponges and nudibranchs (between 3 and 9 meters)

This is one of the most interesting dives in the Cala Montjoi area. With a bottom that varies between 12 and 30 meters, where we find several landscapes, alternating many low with coral bottoms and rocks. At the bottom we find a flat surface between 25 and 30 meters. The fixed fauna that we can find are sponges, gorgonian walls and coral. In this dive we will find a varied amount of fish among which they highlight, groupers, dentures and sea bream. Something exposed to winds and currents.

It is a depression of 150 meters. The top of this depression is 1 meter deep. To the east there is a boulder landscape that descends between 10 and 14 meters, however the southern area is formed by much more vertical walls which reach 30 meters in the deepest part.

The diving takes place mainly in the area between 12 and 25 meters. Abundant fauna attached to the walls. Diving without current.

Located at Cape Norfeu, along its coast, it has several routes depending on the level of the diver. A bottom of rocks and sand from 12 to 28 meters, with many species of fish (groupers, sea bream, dental prostheses, moray eels, …) as well as many octopus. The return from diving, return to the boat is done along the wall at a depth of ten meters full of colors with coral and sponges. A wall that goes from 28 meters to 45 meters and ends with a sandy bottom which has an extraordinary fixed fauna and many species of fish. Current: occasionally.

The most popular and well-known dive south of the natural park. Located at the tip of Cap Norfeu, it is a very rich place in both fixed fauna and fish. We can find moray eels, groupers, midges, sea bream and in the area closest to the surface, common encounters with schools of barracuda. The bottom begins at the foot of a rock face at a depth of ten meters and descends to the foot of a depression of about 25 meters. Two basements, one ranging from 12 meters to 40 meters, the other from 8 to 45 meters, are covered with red Gorgonian and end in a sandy bottom. To finish the dive we have an area between 5 and 8 meters deep on the side of the anchorage where we can make our safety stop while looking for rocky octopuses and enjoy the schools of insects and castanets that we will find. Exceptional dive with often running, being always strong.
